1. Website and Business Cards

    July 20, 2009 by admin

Well after wasting a day waiting for a delivery to come in, I finally got my business cards through, pretty happy with them, I would highly recommend Moo! I didn’t have to go too far off of my original design which was quite handy.

I didn’t really waste my day, I finally got the content on the website up and got rid of a mystery div that was giving my portfolio section a horizontal scroll bar. Turned out my fault as I had a 700px left margin with a 900px width element. DOH!

Anyway check out the additional content on the last page of every project.
    Cheers.

  2. Twitter Feed

I found a nice little app that auto tweets when you make a new blog post. You can find it here: https://twitterfeed.com/. Lets hope I see this on my Twitter within the hour!

  3. Rave @ New Designers 09

Having a day of from manning the stand, but what an experience. New Designers in Islington’s business centre (opposite the Kebab centre, of course) has been a fantastic experience for me personally.

First of all just the sheer amount of content is staggering. Some of it is just amazing too. When we were setting up on Tuesday, me being apprehensive would be an understatement. Every stand (exept Goldsmiths) has their walls plastered with work. We had, well… a ping pong table in the middle of a white space.

The theme from our exhibition came from a few places. First of all, our course has always enjoyed a bit of leisurely table tennis. It was handed down to us from the years above, and will be for quite some time from the looks of things. Secondly the room next to ours was named Ping Pong due to students always pushing two desks together and giving it all.

Every time I talk about ‘Interaction Design’, people ask me, “oh, is that computer stuff?”. It gets infuriating, yes digital design is part of it but the biggest part is user centred design. That involves talking to people. The ping pong table was a perfect ploy to provoke questions and promote human interaction. Our stand got a lot of attention, some good, some bad, but after all, no publicity is bad publicity.

Our work was shown briefly in leaflets which were given out (oh it was enjoyable folding 1000 pieces of A3 paper), in 4 large A3 books which showed our work in more detail, and on the website www.raveinteraction.com. To give out contact details and link our work with our costumes and colours, we created trumps cards. They contained a brief blurb about us and our contact details. Unfortunately I only have my phone to take pictures, a DSLR is on my wish list, but here are a couple to keep you entertained.

  4. Finally back online

    Hello World!
Blimey I have missed blogging. Cutting to the chase, my old blog went out with a bang when my host decided to pull a runner on me. Teaches me to go with a little known company. I managed to back up some of the old blog posts but I missed out an entire couple of months which demoralised me to the point where I stopped blogging.

I am back now, with a vengeance. I am finding myself using twitter a lot more often now, you can follow me here: http://twitter.com/daninacan. Twitter acted as a suitable substitute for a while, but I found myself falling behind on whats hot, whats not. Writing about what I find interested is useful to me, because that way I remember it, but useful to you, because you can find out lots of cool things, right?
